FAQ

  • Everyone has a different amount of hair, and everyone’s hair grows at a different rate. To get rid of all your unwanted hair in a given area, we need to schedule multiple sessions in accordance with your hair growth cycles. The number of laser hair removal sessions needed varies person to person because everyone’s body is different.

On average we recommend 6-8 sessions but it may be more or less.

We also take into consideration the area being treated, the type of hair coming through and any hormonal condition such as PCOS.

  • Each session can eliminate between 10% and 15% of your hairs. With each session, you will see progressive improvement. To target the maximum number of hairs during each session, it is best to space them between 4 and 6 weeks apart. This means that in most cases, you can be hair-free in your chosen area in less than one year.

  • Absolutely! The light that the lasers emit is attracted to your hairs, not the surrounding tissue. Therefore, it can remove your hairs without causing damage to your skin. The treatment is non-invasive and requires no downtime. You can go back to work and normal activities immediately after you leave our clinic.

When compared to other methods of hair removal, this treatment is safer. You don’t need to risk occasionally cutting yourself with a razor. There are no chemicals to irritate your skin as there are with the depilatory cream method. Unlike waxing, laser treatments don’t involve the discomfort of yanking each hair out by the root via hot wax. Waxing also incurs the risk of pulling off the top layer of your skin, especially if it is done incorrectly.

  • All skin types can be treated but this is only dependent on which device and settings are used. With our FDA approved Candela GentleMax Pro we can use two different wavelengths; 755nm for lighter skin tones and 1064 for darker skin.

  • No sun exposure/tanning beds/self-tanning for at least 4 weeks prior to the treatment.

The skin MUST be cleaned, deodorant and perfume free and shaved prior to the treatment. The failure to do so will result in an inability to have the treatment done.

No bleaching, waxing, electrolysis or plucking - only shaving allowed for the whole course duration.

No peels, laser resurfacing or medical-grade exfoliation within at least 4 weeks prior to the treatment.

  • No sun exposure/tanning beds for at least 4 weeks post-treatment.

If facial areas are treated, SPF 30 or higher must be worn throughout the course of treatment.

Treat the skin gently, as if you had a sunburn, for the first 48 hours - no exposure to any factors that can further aggravate the skin condition such as very hot showers, sauna, Jacuzzi, swimming pools.

It can take anywhere from 5-14 days for the hairs to fall out after the treatment.

After the axillae (underarms) are treated, you may wish to use a powder instead of a deodorant for 24 hours after the treatment to reduce skin irritation.

No tight clothing on areas straight after treatment. (eg jeans, tights)

No active products such as AHA’s, BHA’s and retinol for 3-7 days after treatment
